Nichols Consulting & Veritone conduct Webinar on Reimbursement for RIPA

Earlier this month, I was asked by the technology firm Veritone to be an expert presenter in a webinar for SB 90/State-Mandated Cost Reimbursement for the new program, “Racial and Identity Profiling Act” (RIPA – AB 953).  In this webinar, representatives of Veritone and I discuss RIPA, SB 90/State-Mandated Cost Reimbursement and how costs associated with RIPA are reimbursable to cities and counties.

The cost of compliance with RIPA has been significant for even smaller agencies. The “Stop” data entry time is the most significant costs for every agency I have reviewed thus far representing more than 80% of all costs associated with the program. The State of California’s analysis of the costs claimed by Wave 1, 2 and 3 agencies (claims filed in April 2021 and February 2022) is consistent with my experience as “Stop” data entry time approaches 75%.

If you are interested in viewing an “On-Demand” replay of the webinar, I have attached a link here for your convenience: https://unlock.veritone.com/webinar-ripa-compliance-reimbursement-funding-on-demand

Lastly, in the next 6-8 weeks I will be reaching-out to all of my clients with their very own law enforcement agencies (Police and Sheriff Departments) to learn how they complied with “Wave 4” implementation of RIPA (AB 953). In February 2023, fiscal year costs for 2022-23 for RIPA will be reimbursable. As always, please let me know if you have any questions.
